Mathematics

We believe that Mathematics is essential and critical for everyday life, as it introduces children to many different skills, concepts and thinking strategies.

Maths at Goddard Park is a subject that involves confidence and competence with numbers and measure.  It requires a secure understanding of the number system and an ability to reason and solve problems in a variety of mathematical contexts.  A good understanding also demands practical understanding of the ways in which information is gathered by counting and measuring and is presented in graphs, diagrams, charts and tables

At Goddard Park we follow a mastery approach to Mathematics supported by the White Rose Maths Hub scheme of learning.

Children in Early Year and Key Stage 1 children also complete Mastering Number maths sessions. These sessions aim to secure firm foundations in the development of good number sense for all children.  The aim is that children will leave KS1 with fluency in calculation and a confidence and flexibility with number.

Maths Morning - 25th March

On Monday 25th March we held our Maths morning for children in Key Stage 2 children.  The children were joined in their classrooms by their parents and played board games together which supported the children's maths skills.

The parents who attended then spent time with Mrs Shepherd learning about how
we teach maths at Goddard Park and how to support their children at home.

You can view the Key Stage 2 powerpoint below.
